Immortals - and other Burnside supporters - gather 'round!
In honour of International Burnside Day on this Sunday, 16th December 2001,
we have prepared a little challenge for you. Read on if you dare.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get the attached
flier 'displayed' somewhere, anywhere, everywhere on the day. It could be your
local shopping centre's noticeboard, the back window of your car, do a
letterbox drop, pin it to your toddler, e-mail it to someone, we don't much care - just
get it noticed and make it good. (Not under car windscreen wipers though -
that's both illegal and unfriendly to the environment.) If the flier
is too small or too large for your purposes then be creative but get the
word out! Photographic evidence of your endeavours will be gratefully
received, giggled over and proudly displayed at the Burnside Files, but
is not a requirement of completing the challenge. However, we would like
to hear tales and tall stories, so please share with us any reactions to
the notice of the Great Man's Day that you're lucky enough to witness.
Last year the flier was handed out in front of the Opera House,
discussed at the question time of a Sydney Lone Star performance, handed
out on streets and in shopping centres, pinned up all over Brisbane,
attached to passing small boys and e-mailed to hundreds. Other devoted
agents wore bad ties and tried to convert their relatives or had an
appropriate Burnside logo tattooed somewhere private!! For these stories
and more check out www.burnsidefiles.com.
Yes, we want to be noticed. Yes, we crave the attention. We consider it
our duty to Burnside. And we hope you will too.
Good luck and may the Guv be with you,

Celebrate International Burnside Day!
16th December 2001

All over the world people celebrate
International Burnside Day
on the 16th of December - make sure that you are one of them!
This day is, coincidentally, the birthday of Chris Ellison - the man who brought Frank Burnside to life in both The Bill
and in Burnside. It is commemorated in many ways. Some like to settle back with a fine single malt Scotch and slip a classic
Burnside ep into the video machine while others prefer to don a seriously bad tie - ala DI Burnside - and go out to spread the word.
If you are in Australia you may like to e-mail the ABC asking for a repeat of the Burnside series on comments@your.abc.net.au
or contact UKTV at UKTV, Reply Paid 34, Pyrmont NSW 2009 /fax (02) 9200 1740 asking for more Burnside specials. Wherever you are you could contact Freemantle Media by going to www.thebill.com
and ask them to release more Burnside eps on video or write to the great man himself with birthday greetings by writing to Chris Ellison C/O
Artists Mail, BBC Television Centre, Wood Lane, London W12 7RJ, United Kingdom or simply drop by www.burnsidefiles.com
or even nick a slag or a toerag or two.
