Every year, all over the world, people celebrate
International Burnside Day
This day, coincidentally the birthday of Chris Ellison - the man who
brought to life Frank Burnside in The Bill, is commemorated by drinking
single malt scotch, watching The Bill, writing to the ABC to ask for the
showing of Burnside – the series, wearing a bad tie, e-mailing Chris c/o
feedback@pearsontv.com to wish him a happy birthday, nicking slags and
visiting The Burnside Files @ www.geocities.com/burnside_files.
Immortals gather 'round!
In honour of International Burnside Day this Saturday, 16th December
2000, we have prepared a little challenge for you. Read on if you dare.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get the attached
flier 'displayed' somewhere, anywhere, everywhere on the day. It could
be your local shopping centre's noticeboard, the back window of your car,
do a letterbox drop, pin it to your toddler, e-mail it to someone, we don't
much care - just get it noticed and make it good. Photographic evidence
of your endeavours will be greatly received, giggled over and proudly displayed
at the Burnside Files, but is not a requirement of completing the challenge.
However, we would like to hear tales and tall stories, so please share
with us any reactions to the notice of the Great Man's Day that you're
lucky enough to witness.
As an example of the lengths we expect you to go to, Avon will be attempting
to hand the flier to the Boys of Lone Star on stage at the Sydney Opera
House in front of an audience of hundreds, and Anna will be furtively pinning
copies to cars in the streets all over town. Yes, we want to be noticed.
Yes, we crave the attention. We consider it our duty to Burnside. And we
hope you will too.
Good luck and may the Guv be with you.
